THERAPIES INCLUDE:
SCHEMA MODE THERAPY
SCHEMA MODE THERAPY
Schema therapy is an evidence-based therapy that combines elements of cognitive behaviour therapy, psychoanalysis, attachment theory and emotion-focused therapy. Schemas are unhelpful patterns that people can develop if their emotional needs have not been met over time. Schemas can have a negative impact on one's life and contribute to problematic coping styles and behaviours. Schema therapy works towards teaching the client how to get their emotional needs met in a healthy, adaptive way.
MENTALIZATION-BASED THERAPY
Mentalization-Based therapy (MBT) is a long-term evidence-based psychotherapy which focuses on developing the client's ability to think about thinking. MBT helps to make sense of thoughts, beliefs, and feelings and to link these to an individual's actions and behaviours. MBT works on helping the individual to develop the ability to understand the mental state of theirs and others that underlies overt behaviour.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPY
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychological treatment that is evidence-based and utilised for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, alcohol and drug use problems, eating disorders, chronic pain and severe mental illness. CBT focuses on the current rather than past issues and utilises techniques such as targeting unhelpful patterns of thinking, developing a better understanding of the behaviour and motivation of others, using problem-solving skills to manage difficult situations, developing confidence through exposure.
ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY
ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY
Acceptance & Commitment therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based psychological intervention that utilises acceptance and mindfulness strategies along with commitment and behaviour-change strategies to increase psychological flexibility in order to better manage life stressors.
TRAUMA INFORMED CARE
TRAUMA INFORMED CARE
Trauma-informed care acknowledges that there needs to be a holistic picture when it comes to a client's life situation in order to be equipped to provide an effective health care approach that works towards healing.
Trauma-informed care is based on the understanding that:
1. A significant number of people experiencing mental health conditions have been subjected to trauma in their lives;
2. Trauma may be a factor for people in distress;
3. The impact of trauma may be lifelong;
4. Trauma can impact then person, their emotions and relationships with others.
